David Schoen was shocked to receive a call from former President Donald Trump, personally asking him to be a part of the team defending him at the unprecedented second impeachment trial in the Senate.

In this emotional interview, Schoen describes an early interest in civil rights law—that led him to become one of only two non-Black students in his program at Howard University. He also opens up about his faith, and why his devotion kept him from making closing arguments at the Senate.
